This site is the companion to The Mande Flute by Dave Kobrenski, who runs it. It collects as little as it can. This page explains what, why, and how to have it removed.
What we collect
- If you create an account to listen: your email address (which you confirm), your name if you provide it, and how you signed in. If you sign in with Google or another provider, we receive the name and email that provider shares. Accounts are handled by Clerk.
- If you join the email list, on the sign-up form or by creating an account: your email address and first name, kept by Kit, the service that sends the emails.
- While you use the site: your IP address and basic technical details appear in hosting logs at Cloudflare, which hosts the site and protects it from abuse. To keep the audio from being copied in bulk, the site briefly keeps counters tied to your account and IP address, plus the list of recordings your account played that day. These expire within a couple of days.
- Visit counts: the site may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
Why
To give you access to the companion audio, to send you occasional emails about updates to the book or new releases, and to keep the site secure. Creating an account means you agree to receive those emails. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click in any email, and you will keep your access to the audio.
Who sees it
Only the services named above, which process it on this site’s behalf: Clerk, Kit, and Cloudflare. Your information is never sold, and it isn’t used for advertising.
Cookies
Signing in uses cookies that Clerk sets to keep you signed in. The site has no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. The email sign-up form is supplied by Kit and may set cookies of its own.
How long we keep it
Your account stays until you ask for it to be deleted. Your place on the email list stays until you unsubscribe. Logs and counters are kept by the providers for a limited time.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the emails at any time. You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information held about you, including your account, by contacting me. I’ll reply and make the change, and delete your details from the email list as well.

The site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, the date at the top will change with it.
